Our History

Lakewood Camping Resort was founded on faith, family, and a deep desire to share the love of Jesus Christ. From the very beginning, our founder, Carl Perry, recognized that every blessing and bit of success came by God’s grace. In Lakewood’s early days, Carl would often take the stage at our amphitheater on Sundays to share his personal testimony—reminding guests that this place wasn’t just built with vision and hard work, but with faith and God’s provision.

For over sixty years now, Carl and Marion Perry’s descendants have continued that legacy. We remain committed to pointing others to Jesus and using this beautiful space to serve and inspire. That commitment led to the creation of Lakewood Campground Ministry (LCM) in 1972—a non-profit, year-round ministry devoted to sharing the gospel.

LCM provides Christ-centered programs for the whole family, all set against the stunning backdrop of God’s creation—from the peaceful lakes and mighty oaks to the crashing waves of the Atlantic Ocean.

Whether you’re looking to grow in your walk with Christ, worship together, study God’s Word, or simply reconnect with loved ones, Lakewood Campground Ministry offers something for everyone. Programs include adult Bible studies, Kids Club (VBS), youth and middle school gatherings, weekly gospel concerts during peak season, regular worship services, and more.
